Dear Fellow Trustees,

Welcome to the latest edition of the Trustee's Handbook . This manual will give you beneficial information on serving your library and community as a Library Trustee. Though our defined job is to set policy for our libraries, setting policy has many ramifications, which will bring each of you satisfaction and responsibility.

Through this book you will find how to best work as a team, how to analyze present policies, how to determine which new policies are needed, how to best evaluate your director, and how to determine if new services or a new building are needed, along with the laws governing new construction and renovation.

You will find that being a Library Trustee is a very soul satisfying position, which will bring a better quality of life to your community. I wish all of you great satisfaction and success in your career as Library Trustees.
