Magazines In Massachusetts Libraries
Union lists of serials identify which libraries own specific magazine titles and issues. For instance, someone wishing to locate a copy of Life Magazine from August 1955 would check a union list. Union lists are especially helpful when you need more than a single article from a magazine or when you would like to browse through a number of issues of a magazine that is not owned by your local library.
There are two union lists currently available for Massachusetts:
- Cooperating Libraries of Greater Springfield Go to Union List
- The CLGS Union List shows the journals of academic, public and special libraries across western Massachusetts. (Does not include the Five Colleges.).
List of participating institutions of the CLGS Union. - Academic and Research Collaborative (ARC) of the Central Massachusetts Regional Library System (formerly Worcester Area Cooperating Libraries, or WACL)
- The Worcester Area Union Lists of Serials (WAULS) shows the holdings of various academic and special libraries in the Worcester area.

For a specific journal article, you may wish to see whether it is contained in the full-text statewide electronic resources. Your library may also be able to obtain the article quickly through interlibrary loan.
