Thomson Gale (PowerSearch/InfoTrac) Links

Thomson Gale assigns each regional member library a unique "library location ID" that is part of the web address for in-library patrons to use. Setting up database links with your "library location ID" as part of the URL captures in-library use reflected on the Thomson Gale monthly usage reports. (Note: Your Thomson Gale usage report shows both inside and outside usage (captured by your patron's library barcode) in separate columns plus a grand total.

The following table shows the structure for in-library links. It combines the stem URL: "http://infotrac.galegroup.com/itweb/" with your unique vendor-assigned library location ID "mlin_r_xxx".

For example: http://infotrac.galegroup.com/itweb/mlin_r_xxx

The "r" represents the first letter of the name of the region; "xxx" represents the library. Example, library xxx in the Central Region would create the link: http://infotrac.galegroup.com/itweb/mlin_c_xxx

(Note: A few Massachusetts libraries in networks that licensed Gale databases prior to the Spring of 1997 do not have the "mlin_r_" as part of their library location ID's, but simply the alphabetic code for their institution: http://infotrac.galegroup.com/itweb/xxx)

To link to an individual Thomson Gale resource, follow your unique vendor-assigned location code with "?db=" plus an Infotrac Product Code. For example, to link directly to Academic OneFile (Product Code AONE): http://infotrac.galegroup.com/itweb/mlin_r_xxx?db=Gale_AONE
