Statistics
Patron use of electronic resources is one way to document the value of these resources for a libraries' constituents, as well as to identify gaps in training or promotion of these resources. All of the statewide electronic resource vendors can provide usage statistics for each regional member library with a valid email address. If your library is not yet receiving automated statistics on a monthly basis and wishes to do so, contact your regional help desk to have them add your email address to your library's account.
Library staff can also request a user name and password to access their library's Gale profile to run their library's usage reports whenever needed, as well as add, change or remove email addresses through Gale's administrative system called ITConfiguration or ITConfig, for short. For most institutions, only one person per institution should request a user name and password for ITConfig. Just complete the ITConfig Registration Form. An institution's Gale "Location ID" (the last part of an institution's login URL) is needed to complete the form (see Gale PowerSearch/InfoTrac Links for more information about Gale location ID's). Clicking on the submit button sends the form goes directly to Gale. A confirmation email that the form has been received will be issued, followed up by an email with ITConfig access information. To enter ITConfig and run usage reports:
Go to: http://infotrac.galegroup.com/itconfig/"your location ID here"
Enter your user name and password.
Click on "Reports" in the left-hand frame.
Scroll down to "Usage Reports" "Location" (do not use choices under "Usage Reports" "Library"). From here you can choose to "view your report online" (summary usage, inside and remote), "email now" Gale (more detailed reports, including by database and time of day), and/or COUNTER style reports or choose "signed up monthly" to generate automated monthly reports, change what you are currently receiving, or add, change, or remove email addresses for receipt of monthly reports.
For additional information on Gale's Usage Reporting, click on Customer Resource Center and scroll down to "Usage Reporting" under "Training Resources."
