Help

Library Jobs lets you view library jobs that are available in Massachusetts.

At the top of the screen, you select the criteria or filters for jobs in which you are interested. You may specify a filter , or choose ALL.

Library positions can now be identified using a variety of search criteria. Please e-mail info@mlin.lib.ma.us if you have difficulty using the interface.

  1. Simply choose the search criteria that best meet your job requirements, then select "Display Jobs".

There are four "drop-down" list boxes at the top of the screen: Region, Institution Type, Education Required, and Job Type. Select a particular value from one or more of the drop-down lists to limit your search.

Graphic - Selecting jobs by region All positions are assigned to one of the six multi-type regions in Massachusetts. Check our listing of municipalities by region if unsure.

Note: Libraries do not need to be regional members to have positions listed.

Graphic- Selecting jobs by Institution Type If you are unsure what type of library you would like to work in, leave the selection box at its default value "All".
Graphic- Selecting jobs by education requirement
    • Choose the "MLS" option to view only positions that require a Master's Degree in Library Science or similar level of professional/educational attainment (MSLS, MSLIS, Certified School Media Specialist, etc.) will be listed.

    • Choose "NA" to view positions which do not specifically require the MLS (in some cases, the MLS may be "preferred").

    • Choose "ALL" to view all positions regardless of degree requirements.

Graphic- Selecting jobs by full or part-time opening Any job that is under 30 hours per week is classified as part-time.
  2. The listings display by date, showing the most recent postings on top. If you prefer, you can choose to sort the listings by region by selecting the "Region" radio button. The regions are the same as above: Boston, Central, Metrowest, Northeast, Southeastern, Western. [Map of regions] [Municipalities in each region]

  3. Select the "Display Jobs" button to see the summary listings of jobs meeting your search criteria.

  4. Select the "View" button to see the detailed description of a particular job.

  5. If more than one job matched your search, on the job view screen, you will see "Prev" and "Next" buttons. (If you're at the first job, there is no "Prev" button; if you're at the last job, there is no "Next" button.) Clicking on the Prev button will get you the previous job in the list of jobs that had been displayed; clicking on the Next button gets you the next job in the list of jobs.
