Fy2009 Budget Hearing

On October 4, 2007 at the Worcester Public Library, the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners held a hearing on its FY2009 budget request. The Patrick / Murray Administration asked all state agencies to conduct budget hearings this year as part of their commitment to open the processes of state government to the public.

An Executive Summary, along with written testimony from 183 individuals and organizations, was compiled and presented to Governor Deval Patrick, Lt. Governor Tim Murray, and Secretary of Administration and Finance Leslie Kirwin. This testimony from the hearing provides evidence of the need for state funded library services and plainly makes the case for why new funding is needed now.
